Off on a canal (add an R or drop the C, both have been recent mis-readings...) boat for a week. With the family. Oh dear me :-/ To be fair, previous canal boat weeks have been by far the least stressful of our family holidays, I nonetheless have a bad feeling about this one. Hope I'm wrong, but if I don't post again it's cos either a) someone drowned me or b) I drowned someone (probably my brother) and am now in prison. We shall have to wait and see ;-)

Today witnessed the beginning of the Cheltenham cricket festival. This event has such a wonderful atmosphere, seemingly one of the few occasions now when spectators are allowed onto the ground for entirely impromptu games which just feels exactly right. The essence of cricket - a day of watching top-class players, plus the opportunity to play your own games (in my case with my old friends on the scoreboard). It's a mild disappointment that Gloucestershire are doing rather poorly: having got Hampshire to 80 for 7, it took them more than 4 hours to get another wicket, so the visitors eventually made 385... Ah well.
Also feeling the build-up to the other festival, GREENBELT :-D :-D :-D I fear Liz, if she reads this, may hate me for reminding her, but it's only 3 weeks til the best weekend of the year! (Even though I may be sleeping in a non-watertight tent...)
