What's the best thing that has ever happened in your life? Cos I bet it doesn't come close to how I spent last night. I stood but 10 feet away from U2 as they played a spectacular set at the millennium stadium (check out U2.com for their opinion on the evening). I'm not going to attempt to review it, I'm just gonna keep trying to believe that it actually happened! (Next stop REM, and by god have Peter, Michael and Mike got a tough job following that!)

NO MORE EXAMS! I am now a free man, all summer. Although I was slightly disheartened to learn that I have to work through half a maths textbook before September :-| They never told us that when we signed up for the further maths course... Tomorrow sees my leavers ball, and then we are all dispersing for 3 months, of to do..what? I dunno. Wanna get a job, but nowhere seems to be after cheap teenage labour at the moment. Which is a shame, since I owe my mummy £100+, and I'm about to spend loads of money at three gigs. Ho humm

Today saw a little march through Cheltenham for the Make Poverty History campaign. Since my #!@%¿ mother is getting ordained on the weekend of the G8, I have to be here rather than at Gleneagles, where bodies on the ground will probably have more impact. That makes this about the only thing I can do, so despite the Saharan heat I was quite happy to shout at the corporate wh***s of Cheltenham town centre.

Contrary to our fears, there were probably about 200 people marching, which was enough to raise the local profile of the campaign. We also had a fellow from the local rag to take some piccas, and the local MP showed up as well (you may remember the events of 3am June 7th, as previously recorded here...)

Being young and apparently vibrant (wink wink) I was given one end of the big banner, and found myself at the head of the procession. This was rather harder than it might seem, as you have to set the pace. Next time I will know, slow is good: the longer you're marching the greater the impact, and when you only have half a mile to walk it doesn't take long at a normal pace. Ah well, at least I get my picca in the paper. Oh sh**...

Battle for Wesnoth is such a cool game! Instead of trying to make Wine work, I decided to investigate games compatible with Linux. Wesnoth was the first I came across, and i can see myself spending several years on it before I escape - good thing I haven't got many exams left... It's a turn-based strategy game, so the slowness of my comp doesn't matter, the graphics are excellent for a small, and thus downloadable, game, the plot is great, there are loads of campaigns to tackle, and it's quite hard, so you don't lose interest. I'll probably be back, shouting that it's far too hard, but for now it seems almost the perfect game for me.

I'm back in the world!

After spending half term in a pitched battle with my computer and network, thanks to the wonderful people of www.linuxforums.org I am now connected top the interwebnicom from my fine new Linux comp. In actual fact, the computer's really old (6Gb HDD, 266Mhz processor, 192MB RAM) but it's new to me, as is Linux (running Mandriva LE2005). Apart from being rather slow, which I can hardly blame Linux for considering my hardware, and as yet being unable to sort out WINE, all seems well (touchwood).

Since I last conversed with you I have endured innumerable exams, all of which have been more or less as I expected. I now no longer have to consider Spanish. Or biology. Or PE. Or D&T. Such wonderful facts these are...

Wanadoo have also brought to my attention that this site has been up for two years. In that time, and if the last 12 months are anything to go by, it's probably had about 2500 hits. How little of note has actually happened... Hopefully, it wont be long afore the wonderful all singing all dancing new site is ready, although I'm beginning to fear I may have built it up a little too much, considering its actual attributes ;-)
