Sorry about the re-arrangement and having election stuff on separate pages - it's just too much text for one page according to wanadoo in their infinite wisdom. I've therefore had to remove my random mumblings (at least for a while) and play around with the page order.

Added the Election Section*. Various ramblings vaguely linked to May 5th, hardly relevant since I'm unable to vote - just food for thought for anyone who hasn't considered all these points 10 times over already...

Recently returned form a school history trip to Normandy, looking at the D-Day landings. There were some bloody ingenious ideas out there - portable harbours, the first mine clearing vehicle, floating tanks - have a quick google if you want more info...

After the WWI battlefields trip of last year this is rather less impressive, but certainly more fun :-) On the other hand, i still find it hard to deal with the triumphal attitude of some of the cemeteries, especially the American one at Point Du Hoc above Omaha beach. And, of course, I was not encouraged by the prevailant view, even there, that America had won the war single-handed...

Unfortunately this trip meant I missed the last four days of term. Generally this would be a good thing, until I remembered that my maths teacher wanted me to redo my coursework, and I haven't got the stuff necessary for that. Well, I've got the school office to call her, maybe I'll get a response before the end of the holidays.

Swimming on Monday evening, great fun, and happily at this time of year unrestricted in length. However, it only served to remind me how unfit I am, and, as ever, we left saying "we need to do more exercise. We should swim more often". Maybe it'll happen this time, though I doubt it...
