What a week - every evening I went to bed expecting a day off due to snow, and every morning I awoke to a dusting of snow, always just not heavy enough to cause a closure. This meant that everyone at school, from the head down, had been hoping not to be there, and consequently every day was rather less than enjoyable. However, I have survived another week, and it's quite a weird feeling to realise that I only have around 8 weeks of school that I have to attend left - thereafter I'm off on the exam trail (whoppee), and then it's 6th form. I'm f*ckin' old.

For a number of reasons my new website is to be hosted by tiscali here* despite my previous indications. As before it is a very minimal more or less test site at the moment, but rather more standards compliant than before. I do, however, have a few problems, mostly with div positioning, that someone may be able to offer a tip or two on. If you think you may be able to help, check out the site as is, and see what you make of it.
Editors Note type thing, 27/5/2007: Oh no it isn't gonna be hosted there... It's at gilesfleming.com (as you probably know, since this is it ;-)).

Partly inspired by Liz, and partly by a prolonged spell of listening as I try to motivate myself towards biology coursework, I bring you My Playlist [sorry... the page this linked to has long since been deleted, and it's contents lost :-( edited 27/5/2006]. It's been quite interesting to quickly analyse this. On the one hand I'm happy with the range of stuff I'm listening to - from Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings to Rammstein's Mein Herz Brennt. On the other, it doesn't accurately represent my favourite stuff: there are some 25 tracks by Linkin Park on their, and only 5 by U2. Whilst I like Linkin Park, I certainly prefer U2: my playlist is made up of basically every track on my computer that I like, with no weighting for my preferences. If the two figures were swapped it would probably reflect my feelings rather better.

A recent discussion on the Greenbelt forum has revealed to me quite where I stand in the world of website building stupidity. I was on of those wonderful people who do not even know that they know so little - my basic grasp of html, and a few bits of pre-written dhtml from a number of good sites (my favourite being Dynamic Drive) had given me far more confidence than I deserved. What this will mean is that the new site, of which I myself said "if I do this I want to do it right", will be a lot longer in the arriving - I'm going to restart it basically from scratch.
